Arrogant Elephant – Kids Story

Once upon a time there lived an arrogant elephant in a jungle that was quite big and powerful. He was mischievous and destructive.
He was so bad tempered that where ever he went animals ran away from him to save their lives. He used to walk over them without noticing them.
Terrorized animals wanted to get rid of that elephant but they neither had the courage nor the power to fight with that elephant.
Then one clever jackal came out and said, “Friends! We cannot match the elephant’s power but he can be defeated by wisdom. I promise I will find a way to kill him.”
All the animals got surprised to hear this. They were wondering what the jackal was going to do. They were not confident whether the jackal could face the elephant or not.
Meanwhile the jackal made a plan and set out on his way towards the elephant. He knew what he was going to do.
The Jackal reached to the place where the elephant lived and said politely, “Sir! I have come here to represent all the animals of this jungle….”
He continued, “…we all have decided to have you as our king. Present king the lion is now getting old and is unable to fulfill his responsibilities…”
He continued, “…After lion you are the most suitable candidate for this post. You are powerful, intelligent and sincere. We have conducted a crown ceremony for you. So please come with me sir and accept this post.”
The elephant became happy to hear this proposal. He filled with arrogance and proud. He felt himself the most superior person in the jungle to be the king.
He got ready to come with the clever jackal without giving a thought to this fact that nobody liked him in the entire jungle.
The proud elephant started following the jackal. The jackal was leading the elephant’s way, “Please come this way sir.”
The jackal cleverly diverted his way towards muddy land. The overconfident elephant blindly followed the jackal.
Ultimately the elephant stepped into the mud. He tried a lot to come out of the mud but in vain. His legs were going deeper and deeper into the mud. He shouted a lot for help.
The jackal said, “You are an arrogant elephant. You put the other animals into trouble and sometimes they have to lose their lives because of you. This is the punishment of your deeds.”
Finally the elephant drowned completely into the mud and his terror got over forever. The jackal hurried happily to tell this news to all the animals. The moral of the story is “You will reap what you sow”

The Thirsty Crow

Once upon a time there was a crow. One hot summer afternoon he became very thirsty and flew here and there in search of water. But he couldn’t find water anywhere.

Now he got tired. It was almost impossible for him to fly any more. He decided to take some rest on a tree. He found a tree nearby. He flew to it and settles down on a branch.

After some rest the crow flew again to search some water. Luckily he found a big glass pot near a village. He had some hope of finding water. He flew to the pot.

When he looked into the pot, he found some water in it. He became very happy. He put his peak in the pot to drink water but he couldn’t drink it because the level of the water was quite low. He tried again and again but in vain.

He looked here and there. He found some pebbles nearby. He thought of a plan. He thought, “I should throw some pebbles into the pot. The pebbles will settle down at the bottom of the pot. The level of water will increase and I would be able to drink it.”

He picked one pebble and threw it into the pot. The water rose a bit. So he threw some more pebbles. Water level rose a little more. He continued to throw pebbles until the water level came up.

Now the water level came up enough in the pot for him to drink. He drank the water. Now his thirst got satisfied. He became happy and flew away.

Moral of the story is if someone tries hard, he will definitely find a solution for his problem.

The Rabbit and the Tortoise

Page 1: Once upon a time there lived a rabbit and a tortoise in a jungle. The rabbit was a fast runner and he was very proud of his speed. He sometimes boasted in front of the tortoise who was a slow runner.

Page 2: The tortoise got tired of hearing the rabbit’s praise. He decided to challenge the rabbit for a race. Rabbit accepted the challenge happily. He was overconfident about his victory.

Page 3: Now who would be the judge? Bear suggested that Kangaroo should be the judge. Kangaroo agreed to judge the competition. Kangaroo decided that the competition would begin the next day.

Page 4: Next day all the animals gathered to watch the race of the rabbit and the tortoise. Some animals had pity on the tortoise because he could run very slowly. They were quite sure about his defeat.

Page 5: The race started. Both rabbit and tortoise began to run. All the animals watched the race with anxiety. They wondered who would win?

Page 6: The rabbit ran very fast and in no time he covered the half way. He looked back and found the tortoise nowhere. The tortoise ran very slowly that the rabbit left him far behind.

Page 7: The rabbit was confident that the tortoise would take a lot of time to cover the half way. He got tired and decided to take some rest thinking that there was a lot of time to relax. So he lay down to take rest.

Page 8: The rabbit went fast asleep very soon. The tortoise ran and ran at his pace without stopping anywhere. He crossed the rabbit. The rabbit was still sleeping.

Page 9: The tortoise was continuously running. Though he was slow but still he reached the finishing line. All the animals cheered for him.

Page 10: The rabbit woke up after some time. He got worried. He thought the tortoise might have passed him. Again he began to run very fast.

Page 11: The rabbit reached to the finishing line but the tortoise was already there. The tortoise won the race. The rabbit repented that why he went asleep in the middle of the race but it was too late.

Page 12: The judge Kangaroo announced that the tortoise is the winner. All the animals cheered for him very loud. The tortoise was very happy.

Page 13: The rabbit felt ashamed of himself that he often boasted in front of the tortoise about his speed. The moral of the story is “slow and steady wins the race.”

The Fox and The Goat – Children Story and Activity Book.

Page 1: Once upon a time there was a big deep well in a jungle. One fine day a fox came to the well to drink water. Now he was thinking how he could get the water from that well.

Page 2: He saw a bucket hanging in the well to fetch the water. As he tried to fetch the water with the help of that bucket, he fell into the well. Now he got worried how he could get out of the well.

Page 3: Suddenly he saw a goat coming to the well to drink water. The fox was very shrewd. He thought of a plan. The goat saw that bucket. As he moved towards the bucket to fetch the water, he saw the fox in the well.

Page 4: The fox cleverly said to the goat, “My dear friend! You could get a little water with the help of that bucket. That would not be enough to quench your thirst.”

Page 5: The fox continued, “So why don’t you jump into the well as I did and get a lot of water. The goat liked the idea and without giving it a thought he jumped into the well.”

Page 6: As soon as the goat dropped into the well, the fox jumped on his back, took his support and jumped out of the well.

Page 7: By the time the goat could understand everything, the fox came out of the well and the goat remained in the well. The fox laughed shrewdly.

Page 8: The goat was now regretting on his foolishness. The moral of the story is “Think before you do something, otherwise you may have to repent afterwards.”
